Both the Hummer EV Pickup and the F-150 Lightning have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the F-150 Lightning’s (6 vs. 5 years).

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that GMC vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks GMC 6 places higher in reliability than Ford.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produce 548 more horsepower (1000 vs. 452) and 10725 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 775) than the F-150 Lightning’s standard electric motors. The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produce 420 more horsepower (1000 vs. 580) and 10725 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 775) than the F-150 Lightning’s optional electric motors.

Regenerative brakes improve the Hummer EV Pickup’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The front and rear suspension of the Hummer EV Pickup uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the F-150 Lightning, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The F-150 Lightning’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Hummer EV Pickup’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Hummer EV Pickup is 5.2 inches wider in the front and 5 inches wider in the rear than on the F-150 Lightning.

The Hummer EV Pickup is 1 foot, 3.9 inches shorter than the F-150 Lightning, making the Hummer EV Pickup easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Hummer EV Pickup uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard EZ Lift Tailgate, which prevents the heavy tailgate from falling with a crash and causing injury. Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Hummer EV Pickup uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The F-150 Lightning’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Hummer EV Pickup detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The F-150 Lightning (except Pro/XLT)’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.
