The Silverado 1500’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Silverado 1500’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Hummer EV Pickup has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Hummer EV Pickup’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Hummer EV Pickup and the Silverado 1500 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produce 580 more horsepower (1000 vs. 420) and 11040 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 460) than the Silverado 1500’s optional 6.2 V8.

The Hummer EV Pickup can travel with zero emissions on a full charge for 329 miles. The Silverado 1500 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Hummer EV Pickup’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer launch control.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Silverado 1500 and isn’t available on the Silverado 1500 W/T/Custom.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Silverado 1500 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
