The G90’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The XF doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis G90 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar XF doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Genesis G90 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The XF doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The G90 has standard Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The XF doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The G90 has standard Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The XF doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the G90 and the XF have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available all wheel drive.

The Genesis G90 weighs 785 to 1250 pounds more than the Jaguar XF. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the G90 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 80 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The XF has not been tested, yet.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the G90 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the XF. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the XF ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The G90’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the XF’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 61 percent more Genesis dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the G90’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 78 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 26th.

The G90 3.3T’s standard 3.3 turbo V6 produces 119 more horsepower (365 vs. 246) and 107 lbs.-ft. more torque (376 vs. 269) than the XF P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The G90 3.3T’s 3.3 turbo V6 produces 69 more horsepower (365 vs. 296) and 81 lbs.-ft. more torque (376 vs. 295) than the XF P300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The G90 5.0’s standard 5.0 DOHC V8 produces 124 more horsepower (420 vs. 296) and 88 lbs.-ft. more torque (383 vs. 295) than the XF P300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Genesis G90 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The XF requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The G90 has 2.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the XF (21.9 vs. 19.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the G90 a Large car, while the XF is rated a Compact.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the G90 has standard extendable sun visors. The XF doesn’t offer extendable visors.

A power rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are standard in the G90 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The XF doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The G90 has standard front air conditioned seats and the G90 5.0 also has them in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The XF doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The G90 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the XF.

The G90 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the G90 will retain 37.67% to 38.08% of its original price after five years, while the XF only retains 34.07% to 34.15%.
