The Range Rover Sport’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Bentayga.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the Bentayga have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover Sport comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Bentayga’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The Range Rover Sport’s corrosion warranty is 3 years longer than the Bentayga’s (6 vs. 3 years).

There are over 4 times as many Land Rover dealers as there are Bentley dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Range Rover Sport’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover Sport gets better mileage than the Bentayga:

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Sport’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Bentley only offers a regenerative brake system on the Bentayga Hybrid.

The Range Rover Sport has 5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Bentayga (27.5 vs. 22.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Range Rover Sport stops much shorter than the Bentayga:

The Range Rover Sport has a standard full size spare (not available on 7-Passenger/P400e) so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Bentayga; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

The Range Rover Sport SVR handles at .87 G’s, while the Bentayga pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Range Rover Sport SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Bentayga (25.2 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 25.6 seconds @ .74 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Sport SVR has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Bentayga (10.8 vs. 9.7 inches), allowing the Range Rover Sport to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover Sport’s minimum ground clearance is 1.2 inches higher than on the Bentayga (10.9 vs. 9.7 inches).

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 450 pounds less than the Bentley Bentayga.

The Range Rover Sport is 9.7 inches shorter than the Bentayga, making the Range Rover Sport easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Range Rover Sport has 2 inches more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear headroom and 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the Bentayga.

The Range Rover Sport’s cargo area provides more volume than the Bentayga.

The Range Rover Sport’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Bentayga w/Four Seat Comfort Specification doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

The Range Rover Sport’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Bentayga’s (7716 vs. 7165 pounds).

The Range Rover Sport has a higher standard payload capacity than the Bentayga (1631 vs. 1510 lbs.).

If the windows are left open on the Range Rover Sport the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Bentayga can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Bentayga only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover Sport was selected by Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine as their 2014 4x4 of the Year. The Bentayga has never been chosen.
