For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Audi SQ8 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer pretensioners for the rear seat belts.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi SQ8 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The SQ8’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The SQ8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the SQ8 Prestige helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the SQ8 and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Audi SQ8 weighs 929 to 1309 pounds more than the Jaguar F-Pace. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its available headlight’s “Acceptable” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the SQ8 the rating of “Top Safety Pick” for 2021, a rating granted to only 145 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The F-Pace has not been tested, yet.

The SQ8’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Pace’s (12 vs. 6 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Audi 20th in reliability. With 59 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The SQ8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 254 more horsepower (500 vs. 246) and 299 lbs.-ft. more torque (568 vs. 269) than the F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The SQ8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 165 more horsepower (500 vs. 335) and 214 lbs.-ft. more torque (568 vs. 354) than the F-Pace P340’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The SQ8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 105 more horsepower (500 vs. 395) and 163 lbs.-ft. more torque (568 vs. 405) than the F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The SQ8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 52 lbs.-ft. more torque (568 vs. 516) than the F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

For better traction, the SQ8 has larger tires than the F-Pace (285/45R21 vs. 255/55R19). The SQ8’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the F-Pace (285/45R21 vs. 265/45R21).

The SQ8’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Pace’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the SQ8 has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the F-Pace.

The SQ8 Prestige has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The F-Pace doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the SQ8 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the F-Pace, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The SQ8 Prestige offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jaguar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the F-Pace.

The SQ8 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the F-Pace (except Base), the SQ8 offers an optional passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The SQ8’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the F-Pace, and is not available on all models.

The SQ8’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The F-Pace’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The SQ8 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the SQ8 Prestige has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The F-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the SQ8 has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

A manual rear sunshade and power rear side window sunshades are optional in the SQ8 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a rear or rear side window sunshades.

The SQ8 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the F-Pace.

The SQ8 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the SQ8 will retain 49.98% to 50.03% of its original price after five years, while the F-Pace only retains 46.74% to 47.07%.
