Compare the2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5VS 2022 Kia EV6

Both the Ioniq 5 and the EV6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Ioniq 5’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the EV6’s (7/unlimited vs. 5/100,000).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Ioniq 5 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Hyundai will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Kia doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EV6.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Hyundai vehicles are more reliable than Kia vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Hyundai 9 places higher in reliability than Kia.

For better traction, the Ioniq 5 Limited AWD’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the EV6 (255/45R20 vs. 235/45R20).

The Ioniq 5 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The EV6 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ioniq 5’s wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than on the EV6 (118.1 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The front grille of the Ioniq 5 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The EV6 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Ioniq 5 has 3.5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the EV6 (106.5 vs. 103).

The Ioniq 5 has .8 inches more front headroom, .7 inches more rear headroom, .4 inches more rear legroom, .4 inches more rear hip room and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the EV6.

The Ioniq 5 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the EV6 with its rear seat up (28.1 vs. 24.4 cubic feet). The Ioniq 5 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EV6 with its rear seat folded (60.2 vs. 50.2 cubic feet).

The Ioniq 5 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The EV6 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Ioniq 5 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The EV6 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Ioniq 5’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The EV6 doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.
