The A7’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The XF doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi A7 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar XF doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Audi A7 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The XF doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The A7 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The XF doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the A7. But it costs extra on the XF.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the A7 Prestige helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The XF doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the A7 and the XF have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Audi A7 weighs 487 to 1118 pounds more than the Jaguar XF. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Acceptable” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the A7 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2021, a rating granted to only 76 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The XF has not been tested, yet.

The A7’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the XF’s (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 67 percent more Audi dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the A7’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Audi 20th in reliability. With 59 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The A7’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 89 more horsepower (335 vs. 246) and 100 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 269) than the XF P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The A7’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 39 more horsepower (335 vs. 296) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 295) than the XF P300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The A7 55 TFSI e’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 66 more horsepower (362 vs. 296) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 295) than the XF P300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the A7 running on electricity gets better mileage than the XF:

On the EPA test cycle the A7 55 TFSI e 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder Hybrid running its gasoline engine gets better fuel mileage than the XF P300 AWD 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder (25 city/31 hwy vs. 22 city/30 hwy).

The A7 55 TFSI e can drive on battery power alone for up to 26 miles. The XF must run its internal combustion engine to move.

The A7 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The XF doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The A7 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The XF doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The A7’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The XF doesn’t offer launch control.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the A7’s rear seats recline. The XF’s rear seats don’t recline.

The A7 has a standard locking fuel and charge port door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The XF doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the A7 has standard extendable sun visors. The XF doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the A7 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The XF doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The A7 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the A7 will retain 41.65% to 94.21% of its original price after five years, while the XF only retains 34.07% to 34.15%.

The Audi A7/S7/RS 7 outsold the Jaguar XF by almost four to one during the 2021 model year.
