The SQ5 Sportback’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The F-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi SQ5 Sportback are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The SQ5 Sportback has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the SQ5 Sportback and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the SQ5 Sportback its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2021, a rating granted to only 76 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The F-Pace has not been tested, yet.

The SQ5 Sportback’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Pace’s (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 67 percent more Audi dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the SQ5 Sportback’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the SQ5 Sportback has a standard 150-amp alternator. The F-Pace’s 130-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Audi 20th in reliability. With 59 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The SQ5 Sportback’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 103 more horsepower (349 vs. 246) and 100 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 269) than the F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The SQ5 Sportback’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 14 more horsepower (349 vs. 335) and 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 354) than the F-Pace P340’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the SQ5 Sportback gets better fuel mileage than the F-Pace SVR 5.0 supercharged V8 (19 city/24 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Audi SQ5 Sportback uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The F-Pace requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The SQ5 Sportback’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The F-Pace doesn’t offer launch control.

The SQ5 Sportback’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Pace’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the SQ5 Sportback has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the F-Pace.

The SQ5 Sportback has a standard automatic load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The SQ5 Sportback is 3 inches shorter than the F-Pace, making the SQ5 Sportback easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces. The SQ5 Sportback is 3.6 inches shorter than the F-Pace SVR.

The SQ5 Sportback is 7 inches narrower than the F-Pace, making the SQ5 Sportback easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The design of the Audi SQ5 Sportback amounts to more than styling. The SQ5 Sportback has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is lower than the F-Pace (.36) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the SQ5 Sportback get better fuel mileage.

The SQ5 Sportback has .5 inches more front headroom, .7 inches more front legroom, .6 inches more rear legroom and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the F-Pace.

The front step up height for the SQ5 Sportback is .9 inches lower than the F-Pace (18.3” vs. 19.2”). The SQ5 Sportback’s rear step up height is 1.8 inches lower than the F-Pace’s (18” vs. 19.8”).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the SQ5 Sportback easier. The SQ5 Sportback’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 29 inches, while the F-Pace’s liftover is 30.5 inches.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the F-Pace (except Base), the SQ5 Sportback offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The SQ5 Sportback’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The F-Pace’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The SQ5 Sportback has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the SQ5 Sportback to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the F-Pace.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the SQ5 Sportback has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the SQ5 Sportback to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Insurance will cost less for the SQ5 Sportback owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the SQ5 Sportback will cost $680 less than the F-Pace over a five-year period.

The SQ5 Sportback will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the SQ5 Sportback will retain 47.14% to 51.68% of its original price after five years, while the F-Pace only retains 46.74% to 47.07%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Audi SQ5 Sportback will be $1224 to $22251 less than for the Jaguar F-Pace.

The Audi SQ5 Sportback outsold the Jaguar F-Pace by over seven to one during the 2021 model year.
