The GT has standard SYNC®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The 600LT doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GT and the 600LT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

There are over 120 times as many Ford dealers as there are McLaren dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT’s warranty.

The 600LT’s redline is at 8500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The GT has a 7000 RPM redline.

The GT has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The 600LT doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the car’s engine.

The GT’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 55 more horsepower (647 vs. 592) and 93 lbs.-ft. more torque (550 vs. 457) than the 600LT’s 3.8 turbo V8.

The GT has standard air brakes, which adjust the rear spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The 600LT doesn’t offer air brakes.

For better traction, the GT has larger tires than the 600LT (F:245/35R20 & R:325/30R20 vs. F:225/35R19 & R:285/35R20).

The GT’s 325/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 600LT’s standard 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GT has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 19-inch front wheels are available on the 600LT.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GT’s wheelbase is 1.6 inches longer than on the 600LT (106.7 inches vs. 105.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GT is .6 inches wider in the front and 2.8 inches wider in the rear than on the 600LT.

For better maneuverability, the GT’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the 600LT’s (40 feet vs. 41 feet).

The GT (except Competition Series) uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The 600LT doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GT’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The 600LT does not have an oil pressure gauge.

On a hot day the GT’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the 600LT can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the GT has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The 600LT doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

With standard voice command, the GT offers the driver hands free control of the radio, climate controls and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The 600LT doesn’t offer a voice control system.

Bluetooth wireless connectivity is standard on the GT, connecting the driver and passenger’s cell phones to the vehicle systems. This allows them to use the vehicle’s stereo and hand controls to place calls safely and easily. .
