Compare the2022 Ford GTVS 2021 Lamborghini Aventador

The GT has standard SYNC®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Aventador doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GT and the Aventador have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

There are over 79 times as many Ford dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT’s warranty.

The Aventador’s redline is at 8500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The GT has a 7000 RPM redline.

The GT has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The Aventador doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the car’s engine.

The GT’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 43 lbs.-ft. more torque (550 vs. 507) than the Aventador S’ standard 6.5 DOHC V12. The GT’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 19 lbs.-ft. more torque (550 vs. 531) than the Aventador SVJ’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12.

On the EPA test cycle the GT gets better mileage than the Aventador Coupe:

The GT has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Aventador doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ford GT higher (3 out of 10) than the Lamborghini Aventador (1). This means the GT produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Aventador every 15,000 miles.

The GT has standard air brakes, which adjust the rear spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Aventador doesn’t offer air brakes.

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The GT has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Aventador doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The GT stops shorter than the Aventador:

The GT has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Aventador doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The GT handles at 1.11 G’s, while the Aventador S pulls only 1.04 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The GT executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Aventador S (22.7 seconds @ .97 average G’s vs. 23.1 seconds @ .92 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the GT’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Aventador’s (40 feet vs. 41 feet).

The GT (except Competition Series) uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Aventador doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GT’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Aventador’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

The GT was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2018. The Aventador has never been an “All Star.”
