Compare the2022 Ford GTVS 2022 Lamborghini Huracán

The GT has standard SYNC®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Huracán doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GT and the Huracán have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

There are over 79 times as many Ford dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT’s warranty.

The Huracán’s redline is at 8500 to 8700 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The GT has a 7000 RPM redline.

The GT has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The Huracán doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the car’s engine.

The GT’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 45 more horsepower (647 vs. 602) and 137 lbs.-ft. more torque (550 vs. 413) than the Huracán Evo’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10. The GT’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 17 more horsepower (647 vs. 630) and 107 lbs.-ft. more torque (550 vs. 443) than the Huracán Evo’s optional 5.2 DOHC V10. The GT’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 16 more horsepower (647 vs. 631) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (550 vs. 417) than the Huracán STO’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Ford GT higher (3 out of 10) than the Lamborghini Huracán (1). This means the GT produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Huracán every 15,000 miles.

For better stopping power the GT’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Huracán:

The GT has standard air brakes, which adjust the rear spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Huracán doesn’t offer air brakes.

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The GT has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Huracán doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The GT stops shorter than the Huracán:

For better traction and acceleration, the GT has larger rear tires than the Huracán (325/30R20 vs. 305/30R20).

The GT’s 325/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Huracán’s standard 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GT has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Huracán.

The GT has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Huracán doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GT’s wheelbase is 3.6 inches longer than on the Huracán (106.7 inches vs. 103.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GT is 1 inch wider in the front and 1.6 inches wider in the rear than on the Huracán.

The GT handles at 1.11 G’s, while the Huracán Coupe AWD pulls only 1.01 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The GT (except Competition Series) uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Huracán doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GT’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Huracán’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The GT’s speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Huracán’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the GT has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Huracán doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

The GT was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2018. The Huracán hasn’t been picked since 2015.
