The Ford GT has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F8 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The GT has standard SYNC®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The F8 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GT and the F8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

The GT’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the F8’s (5 vs. 3 years).

There are over 81 times as many Ford dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT’s warranty.

The F8’s redline is at 8000 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The GT has a 7000 RPM redline.

The GT has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The F8 doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the car’s engine.

The GT has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The F8 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The GT has standard air brakes, which adjust the rear spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The F8 doesn’t offer air brakes.

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The GT has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The F8 doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The GT stops much shorter than the F8:

For better traction and acceleration, the GT has larger rear tires than the F8 (325/30R20 vs. 305/30R20).

The GT has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The F8 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GT’s wheelbase is 2.4 inches longer than on the F8 (106.7 inches vs. 104.3 inches).

The GT handles at 1.11 G’s, while the F8 Tributo pulls only 1.06 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The GT (except Competition Series) uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The F8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GT’s entire steering wheel hub sounds the horn, facilitating hitting the horn in an emergency. The F8 has two small spoke buttons. These buttons can be hard to reach in an emergency.

The GT’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The F8’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The GT’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The F8’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

On a hot day the GT’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the F8 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Intelligent Access standard on the GT allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Ferrari F8’s Keyless Entry and Ignition doesn’t unlock the trunk.

The GT’s standard GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that plots alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The F8’s navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.

The GT was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2018. The F8 hasn’t been picked since 2016.
