Both the EV6 and the Mustang Mach-E have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The EV6 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Mustang Mach-E’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the EV6 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Ford covers the Mustang Mach-E. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Mustang Mach-E ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Kia vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia 6th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 15 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is ranked 14th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia third in reliability, above the industry average. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is ranked 22nd.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 7 places higher in reliability than Ford.

On the EPA test cycle the EV6 gets better mileage than the Mach-E:

For better traction, the EV6 has larger tires than the Mustang Mach-E (235/45R20 vs. 225/60R18).

The EV6’s standard 235/55R19 tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mustang Mach-E’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EV6 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Mustang Mach-E.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the EV6 is .6 inches wider in the front and 1.1 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Mustang Mach-E.

For greater off-road capability the EV6 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Mustang Mach-E (6.1 vs. 5.8 inches), allowing the EV6 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Kia EV6 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 400 pounds less than the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The EV6 has .1 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room and .9 inches more rear legroom than the Mustang Mach-E.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EV6’s rear seats recline. The Mustang Mach-E’s rear seats don’t recline.

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the EV6’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The EV6 offers up to a 2300 lbs. towing capacity. The Mustang Mach-E has no towing capacity.

The EV6 offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The EV6 has a standard locking charge port door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage to the charging system. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a locking charge port.

The EV6 has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats cost extra on the Mustang Mach-E. The EV6 also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Mustang Mach-E.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the EV6 Wind/GT-Line/1st Edition keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The EV6 has a 115-volt a/c outlet, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The EV6 (except Light)’s optional Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Mustang Mach-E’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
