The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer pretensioners for the rear seat belts.

The AMG GLC’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The F-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes AMG GLC are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Mercedes AMG GLC has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the AMG GLC and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

There are over 2 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the AMG GLC’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the AMG GLC’s reliability 38 points higher than the F-Pace.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mercedes vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mercedes 15th in reliability. With 64 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The AMG GLC’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 139 more horsepower (385 vs. 246) and 115 lbs.-ft. more torque (384 vs. 269) than the F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The AMG GLC’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 50 more horsepower (385 vs. 335) and 30 lbs.-ft. more torque (384 vs. 354) than the F-Pace P340’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes AMG GLC, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the F-Pace.

For better traction and acceleration, the AMG GLC has larger rear tires than the F-Pace (285/40R20 vs. 255/55R19).

The AMG GLC 43’s standard 255/45R20 front and 285/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Pace’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the AMG GLC 43 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the F-Pace.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the AMG GLC can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The F-Pace doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The front and rear suspension of the AMG GLC uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the F-Pace, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The AMG GLC has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The AMG GLC’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The AMG GLC’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The F-Pace doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

The AMG GLC 43 handles at .94 G’s, while the F-Pace pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The AMG GLC 43 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.6 seconds quicker than the F-Pace (25.2 seconds @ .75 average G’s vs. 26.8 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

The AMG GLC is 3.4 inches shorter than the F-Pace, making the AMG GLC easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The AMG GLC is 5.5 inches narrower than the F-Pace, making the AMG GLC easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Mercedes service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Mercedes 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 14% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 18th.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the F-Pace (except Base), the AMG GLC has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The AMG GLC’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the F-Pace, and is not available on all models.

The AMG GLC has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the AMG GLC to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the F-Pace.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the AMG GLC offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The F-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the AMG GLC has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the AMG GLC to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The AMG GLC has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The AMG GLC’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting and stopping automatically, with the driver only responsible for switching from reverse to drive. The F-Pace S/R-Dynamic/SVR’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

Insurance will cost less for the AMG GLC owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the AMG GLC will cost $510 to $6055 less than the F-Pace over a five-year period.

The AMG GLC will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the AMG GLC will retain 52.68% of its original price after five years, while the F-Pace only retains 46.74% to 47.07%.
