Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the AMG GLC can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The X4 M doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The front and rear suspension of the AMG GLC uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the X4 M, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The AMG GLC has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The AMG GLC’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The X4 M doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The AMG GLC’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The X4 M doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the AMG GLC’s turning circle is 1.7 feet tighter than the X4 M’s (39.7 feet vs. 41.4 feet).

The Mercedes AMG GLC may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 pounds less than the BMW X4 M.

The AMG GLC is 4 inches shorter than the X4 M, making the AMG GLC easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The AMG GLC has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The X4 M doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the X4 M, the AMG GLC has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The AMG GLC’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The X4 M doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

Insurance will cost less for the AMG GLC owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the AMG GLC will cost $2870 less than the X4 M over a five-year period.

The AMG GLC will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the AMG GLC will retain 52.68% of its original price after five years, while the X4 M only retains 49.82%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Mercedes AMG GLC will be $14117 less than for the BMW X4 M.
