Compare the2022 Infiniti QX60VS 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The QX60 Sensory/Autograph’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Grand Cherokee L doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The QX60 Autograph has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Grand Cherokee L doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Both the QX60 and the Grand Cherokee L have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

The QX60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Grand Cherokee L’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 24,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the QX60 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Grand Cherokee L. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Grand Cherokee L ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The QX60’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Grand Cherokee L’s (7 vs. 5 years).

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the QX60 has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the 5.7 V8 in the Grand Cherokee L.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 23rd in reliability. With 4 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is ranked 24th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 8 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6 produces 2 more horsepower (295 vs. 293) and 10 lbs.-ft. more torque (270 vs. 260) than the Grand Cherokee L’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6.

As tested in Motor Trend the Infiniti QX60 is faster than the Jeep Grand Cherokee L V6:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certifies the Infiniti QX60 as an “Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle” (ULEV). The Jeep Grand Cherokee L is only certified to “Low Emissions Vehicle” (LEV) standards.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Infiniti QX60, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Grand Cherokee L.

The QX60 stops much shorter than the Grand Cherokee L:

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the QX60 is 1.5 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than on the Grand Cherokee L.

The QX60 Sensory AWD handles at .80 G’s, while the Grand Cherokee L Overland 4x4 pulls only .75 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The QX60 is 6.7 inches shorter than the Grand Cherokee L, making the QX60 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Infiniti QX60 amounts to more than styling. The QX60 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .32 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Grand Cherokee L (.357) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the QX60 get better fuel mileage.

The QX60 has 1 inch more front headroom, .8 inches more front legroom, 1.4 inches more front hip room, 1.4 inches more front shoulder room, .4 inches more rear hip room, 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room, 2.3 inches more third row hip room and 3.7 inches more third row shoulder room than the Grand Cherokee L.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the QX60’s middle and third row seats recline. The Grand Cherokee L’s third row seats don’t recline.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Jeep. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti third in service department satisfaction. With a 67% lower rating, Jeep is ranked 28th.

The QX60’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Grand Cherokee L’s standard rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully. Only its driver’s window closes automatically.

The QX60’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Grand Cherokee L’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

The Grand Cherokee L’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The QX60’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The QX60 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Grand Cherokee L.
