The Aston Martin DBS has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 911 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The DBS has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the 911’s blind spot costs extra.

Both the DBS and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The DBS comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 911’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The DBS’ 5.2 turbo V12 produces 336 more horsepower (715 vs. 379) and 333 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 331) than the 911’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The DBS’ 5.2 turbo V12 produces 272 more horsepower (715 vs. 443) and 274 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 390) than the 911 S’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The DBS’ 5.2 turbo V12 produces 242 more horsepower (715 vs. 473) and 244 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 420) than the 911 GTS’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. On the EPA test cycle the DBS gets better mileage than the 911 Coupe:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the DBS’ fuel efficiency. The 911 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The DBS has 4.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s standard fuel tank (21.1 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the DBS’ standard brake rotors are larger than those on the 911:

For better traction, the DBS has larger tires than the 911 (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20). The DBS’ front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 911 (265/35R21 vs. 255/35R20).

The DBS’ 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911’s standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DBS has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are standard on the 911. The 911’s largest wheels are only 20-inches in the front and 21-inches in the rear.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DBS’ wheelbase is 13.9 inches longer than on the 911 (110.4 inches vs. 96.5 inches). The DBS’ wheelbase is 13.7 inches longer than on the 911 GT3 (110.4 inches vs. 96.7 inches).

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the 911, the DBS has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The DBS’ standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 911.

If the windows are left open on the DBS the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 911 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the DBS has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the DBS has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The 911 doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.
