Regardless of its engine, the Silverado 1500’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. GMC only offers an automatic engine start/stop system on the Sierra Limited 8-speed Auto/Diesel.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the Silverado 1500 offers an optional power cargo door, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a power cargo door.

The Silverado 1500’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the Sierra Limited’s (8900 vs. 7400 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Standard Bed Double Cab 4x4 is only 12100 pounds. The Silverado 1500 Short Box Crew Cab offers up to a 13200 lbs. towing capacity.

While the Sierra 1500 Limited Short Bed Crew Cab 4x4 can only tow 6600, any Silverado 1500 can tow a minimum of 8900 pounds.

The Silverado 1500’s standard power windows allow the driver or passenger to lower and raise the windows without leaning over or being distracted. Power windows cost extra on the Sierra Limited.

The Silverado 1500’s standard power locks allow the driver or passenger to lock or unlock all the doors at a touch without leaning over. Power locks cost extra on the Sierra Limited.

The Silverado 1500 ZR2/LTZ/High Country’s standard wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield. The Sierra Limited’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 outsold the GMC Sierra Limited by over two to one during the 2021 model year.
