For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Lincoln Aviator are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Lincoln Aviator has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Aviator has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Aviator (except Standard) offers an optional Reverse Brake Assist that use rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Aviator’s optional Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The I-Pace doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Both the Aviator and the I-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its available headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Aviator the rating of “Top Pick” for 2021, a rating granted to only 137 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The I-Pace has not been tested, yet.

Lincoln’s powertrain warranty covers the Aviator 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the I-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the I-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

There are over 4 times as many Lincoln dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Aviator’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Lincoln vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lincoln 15th in initial quality. With 2 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 19th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Lincoln vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lincoln 9th in reliability, above the industry average. With 80 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The Aviator’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 6 more horsepower (400 vs. 394) than the I-Pace’s electric motors. The Aviator Grand Touring’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 100 more horsepower (494 vs. 394) and 118 lbs.-ft. more torque (630 vs. 512) than the I-Pace’s electric motors.

The Aviator’s maximum EPA estimated driving range on a full tank of fuel and a full charge is 525.2 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The I-Pace’s range is only 222 miles, after which the minimum recharge time is 15 minutes for only a 28% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas. A full recharge at a conventional charging station can take up to 12 hours and 54 minutes.

For better traction, the Aviator has larger standard tires than the I-Pace (255/55R19 vs. 245/50R20). The Aviator’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the I-Pace (275/40R22 vs. 255/40R22).

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Aviator’s wheelbase is 1.4 inches longer than on the I-Pace (119.1 inches vs. 117.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Aviator is 2.2 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than on the I-Pace.

For better maneuverability, the Aviator’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the I-Pace’s (39.2 feet vs. 40.5 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Aviator has a greater minimum ground clearance than the I-Pace (8.7 vs. 7.8 inches), allowing the Aviator to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Aviator Grand Touring/Black Label uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The I-Pace doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Aviator has 1.6 inches more front headroom, 2.1 inches more front legroom, 3.9 inches more front shoulder room, 1.6 inches more rear headroom, 4 inches more rear legroom and 6.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the I-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Aviator’s middle row seats recline. The I-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Aviator’s cargo area provides more volume than the I-Pace.

Pressing a button automatically lowers the Aviator’s second and third row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The I-Pace doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The Aviator’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the I-Pace’s (5600 vs. 1653 pounds).

Optional Trailer Sway Control on the Aviator uses the AdvanceTrac® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The I-Pace doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Lincoln service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Lincoln fifth in service department satisfaction. With a 19% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 18th.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Aviator’s exterior PIN entry system. The I-Pace doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its SOS Emergency Call can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Aviator has a standard rear wiper. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Aviator offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The I-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Aviator to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The I-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Optional air conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Aviator’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The I-Pace doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Aviator (except Standard) offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the I-Pace.

The Aviator has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Aviator (except Standard)’s optional Active Park Assist Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The I-Pace’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

The Aviator is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The Lincoln Aviator outsold the Jaguar I-Pace by almost 19 to one during the 2021 model year.
