Both the CR-V and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Honda CR-V uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Corsair with the 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder engine requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The CR-V has 2.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair Grand Touring Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (14 vs. 11.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Honda CR-V higher (6 out of 10) than the Lincoln Corsair (5). This means the CR-V produces up to 6.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Corsair every 15,000 miles.

The CR-V Touring executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Corsair Standard AWD (27.3 seconds @ .62 average G’s vs. 27.7 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

The Honda CR-V may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 950 pounds less than the Lincoln Corsair.

The CR-V has 3.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Corsair (105.9 vs. 102.5).

The CR-V has .6 inches more front headroom, .8 inches more front shoulder room, .5 inches more rear headroom and 1.8 inches more rear legroom than the Corsair.

The CR-V has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The Corsair doesn’t offer a locking fuel/charge port door.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The CR-V’s available headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Corsair’s headlights are rated “Acceptable” to “Poor.”

Insurance will cost less for the CR-V owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the CR-V will cost $390 less than the Corsair over a five-year period.

The CR-V will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the CR-V will retain 53.54% to 57.3% of its original price after five years, while the Corsair only retains 45.92% to 47.69%.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the CR-V is less expensive to operate than the Corsair because it costs $745 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost much less on the CR-V than the Corsair, including $257 less for a water pump, $317 less for a muffler, $115 less for front brake pads, $42 less for fuel injection, $97 less for a fuel pump, $46 less for front struts, $558 less for a timing belt/chain and $618 less for a power steering pump.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Honda CR-V will be $11467 to $14023 less than for the Lincoln Corsair.
