The Mercedes AMG GLE has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. Both the AMG GLE and the SQ7 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes AMG GLE, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the SQ7.

For better stopping power the AMG GLE CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the SQ7:

The AMG GLE offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The SQ7 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The AMG GLE’s optional 325/35R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the SQ7’s 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the AMG GLE offers optional 22-inch wheels. The SQ7’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The AMG GLE has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the SQ7; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The AMG GLE’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The SQ7 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the AMG GLE is .9 inches wider in the front and 2.3 inches wider in the rear than the track on the SQ7.

For better maneuverability, the AMG GLE’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the SQ7’s (39.4 feet vs. 41 feet).

The Mercedes AMG GLE may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 200 pounds less than the Audi SQ7.

The AMG GLE 53 is 5.2 inches shorter than the SQ7, making the AMG GLE easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the AMG GLE to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The SQ7 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

The AMG GLE has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The SQ7 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The AMG GLE’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The SQ7 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Mercedes GLE outsold the Audi Q7/SQ7 by over two to one during the 2021 model year.
