The LS’ pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Revero doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The LS has a standard Pre-Collision System, which uses forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Revero has a collision warning system without the crash-mitigating brake feature that could reduce stopping distances.

The LS has standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Revero doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The LS has a standard Auto-Stop that use rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Revero doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The LS offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Revero doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The LS’ driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Revero doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The LS has standard Safety Connect®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Revero doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the LS and the Revero have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, collision warning systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

There are over 11 times as many Lexus dealers as there are Karma dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the LS’ warranty.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the LS gets better mileage than the Revero running its gasoline engine:

The LS 500’s standard fuel tank has 11.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Revero (21.7 vs. 10.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The LS 500h’s standard fuel tank has 12 gallons more fuel capacity than the Revero (22.2 vs. 10.3 gallons).

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the LS 500 F Sport’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Revero:

Tires and Wheels

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the LS can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Revero doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The LS F-Sport offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Revero doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The LS has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The Revero’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For better maneuverability, the LS’ turning circle is 3.6 feet tighter than the Revero’s (36.8 feet vs. 40.4 feet). The LS AWD’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Revero’s (39.4 feet vs. 40.4 feet).

Chassis

The Lexus LS may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 350 pounds less than the Karma Revero.

The LS uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Revero doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The LS has standard seating for 5 passengers; the Revero can only carry 4.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the LS’ available rear seats recline. The Revero’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The LS has a much larger trunk than the Revero (17 vs. 6.4 cubic feet).

To allow full utilization of available cargo room, the LS’ trunk lid uses concealed beam hinges that don’t intrude into the trunk. Its intrusive beam hinge reduces the Revero’s useful trunk space.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the LS’ trunk can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Revero doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Ergonomics

The LS has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Revero doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Revero, the LS has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The LS offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Revero doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The LS’ standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Revero’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

If the windows are left open on the LS the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (Your Lexus service department must activate this window function.) The driver of the Revero can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the LS detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Revero doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

When the LS is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Revero’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The LS’ standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Revero has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The LS has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Revero doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The LS has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Revero.

The LS offers optional massaging front and rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Revero.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the LS has a standard Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Revero doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
