Both the F-Pace and Outlander have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Outlander’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the Outlander.

Both the F-Pace and the Outlander have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Outlander’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Mitsubishi doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Outlander.

The F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 65 more horsepower (246 vs. 181) and 88 lbs.-ft. more torque (269 vs. 181) than the Outlander’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder. The F-Pace P340’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 154 more horsepower (335 vs. 181) and 173 lbs.-ft. more torque (354 vs. 181) than the Outlander’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder. The F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 214 more horsepower (395 vs. 181) and 224 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 181) than the Outlander’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder. The F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 361 more horsepower (542 vs. 181) and 335 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 181) than the Outlander’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder.

Regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Outlander doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the F-Pace’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Outlander doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The F-Pace has 7.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Outlander (21.9 vs. 14.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the F-Pace SVR’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Outlander:

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the Outlander (255/55R19 vs. 235/60R18). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Outlander (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. 255/45R20).

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Outlander’s standard 60 series tires. The F-Pace SVR’s optional 265/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the Outlander’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Outlander. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Outlander.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Outlander; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The F-Pace offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Outlander’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The F-Pace has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Outlander doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-Pace’s wheelbase is 6.6 inches longer than on the Outlander (113.1 inches vs. 106.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the F-Pace is 2 inches wider in the front and 2.1 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Outlander.

The F-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the Outlander’s (57% to 43%). This gives the F-Pace more stable handling and braking.

The F-Pace handles at .88 G’s, while the Outlander SEL AWC pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.4 seconds quicker than the Outlander SEL AWC (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 27.4 seconds @ .61 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Outlander ES (8.4 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

For excellent aerodynamics, the F-Pace has standard flush composite headlights. The Outlander has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Outlander doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume than the Outlander with its rear seat up (31.5 vs. 11.7 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the F-Pace. The Outlander doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Outlander’s (5291 vs. 2000 pounds).

The engine in the F-Pace is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the Outlander. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

The F-Pace’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Outlander’s standard passenger windows don’t open or close automatically.

If the windows are left open on the F-Pace the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Outlander can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The F-Pace’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Outlander ES’ standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the F-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Outlander doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The F-Pace’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Mitsubishi only offers heated mirrors on the Outlander SE/SEL.

The F-Pace’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Outlander offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the F-Pace (except Base) keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Outlander doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The F-Pace R-Dynamic offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Outlander.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar F-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Outlander SE/SEL offers wireless charging.

The F-Pace S/R-Dynamic/SVR’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Outlander doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
