To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the XC60.

Both the F-Pace and the XC60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The XC60’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than Volvo pays for maintenance for the XC60 (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Volvo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar 19th in initial quality. With 45 more problems per 100 vehicles, Volvo is ranked 29th.

On the EPA test cycle the F-Pace P250 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder gets better fuel mileage than the XC60 B6 2.0 turbo/supercharged 4-cylinder AWD running its gasoline engine (22 city/27 hwy vs. 21 city/27 hwy).

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Volvo only offers a regenerative brake system on the XC60 T8.

Both the F-Pace and the XC60 have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. All F-Paces have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. A disable switch costs extra on the XC60.

The F-Pace has 3.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the XC60 (21.9 vs. 18.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the XC60 (255/55R19 vs. 235/60R18).

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XC60’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the XC60. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the XC60.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the XC60; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

The front and rear suspension of the F-Pace uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the XC60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The F-Pace handles at .88 G’s, while the XC60 B6 AWD Inscription pulls only .87 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.3 seconds quicker than the XC60 B5 AWD Momentum (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 27.3 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the XC60 w/Air Suspension (8.4 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The XC60 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the XC60 with its rear seat up (31.5 vs. 21.6 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the XC60 with its rear seat folded (69.1 vs. 49.8 cubic feet).

The F-Pace’s cargo area is larger than the XC60’s in almost every dimension:

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the F-Pace S/R-Dynamic/SVR’s optional rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The XC60 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the XC60’s (5291 vs. 3500 pounds).

A Trailer Stability Assist is standard on the F-Pace, using the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the XC60.

The engine in the F-Pace is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the XC60. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

The F-Pace (except Base)’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The XC60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The F-Pace’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The XC60’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar F-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the XC60.
