Safety

Both the F-Pace and X6 M have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X6 M’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the F-Pace and the X6 M have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The X6 M’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the X6 M (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar 19th in initial quality. With 1 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is ranked 20th.

Tires and Wheels

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace offers optional 22-inch wheels. The X6 M’s largest wheels are only 21-inches in the front and 22-inches in the rear.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the X6 M; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the F-Pace’s turning circle is 2.8 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (39.2 feet vs. 42 feet).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the X6 M (8.4 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Jaguar F-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1350 pounds less than the BMW X6 M.

The F-Pace is 8.1 inches shorter than the X6 M, making the F-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The X6 M doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The F-Pace has .4 inches more rear headroom and 1.5 inches more rear legroom than the X6 M.

Cargo Capacity

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the X6 M with its rear seat up (31.5 vs. 27.4 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the X6 M with its rear seat folded (69.1 vs. 59.6 cubic feet).

Towing

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the F-Pace uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The X6 M doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the F-Pace has a standard rear wiper. The X6 M doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar F-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The X6 M doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

Economic Advantages

Insurance will cost less for the F-Pace owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the F-Pace will cost $2690 to $8235 less than the X6 M over a five-year period.

The F-Pace will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the F-Pace will retain 46.74% to 47.07% of its original price after five years, while the X6 M only retains 44.34%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Jaguar F-Pace will be $26634 to $59827 less than for the BMW X6 M.

Recommendations

The Jaguar F-Pace outsold the BMW X6 by 471 units during the 2021 model year.
