Both the F-Pace and Stelvio have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Stelvio’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the Stelvio.

The F-Pace offers an optional 3D Surround Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Stelvio only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the F-Pace and the Stelvio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Stelvio’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

The F-Pace’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Stelvio’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Alfa Romeo only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Stelvio.

There are over 26 percent more Jaguar dealers than there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the F-Pace’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the F-Pace’s reliability 18 points higher than the Stelvio.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Alfa Romeo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar 19th in initial quality. With 39 more problems per 100 vehicles, Alfa Romeo is ranked 28th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are more reliable than Alfa Romeo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar 31st in reliability. With 10 more problems per 100 vehicles, Alfa Romeo is ranked 32nd.

The F-Pace P340’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 55 more horsepower (335 vs. 280) and 48 lbs.-ft. more torque (354 vs. 306) than the Stelvio’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 115 more horsepower (395 vs. 280) and 99 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 306) than the Stelvio’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 262 more horsepower (542 vs. 280) and 210 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 306) than the Stelvio’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the F-Pace SVR 5.0 supercharged V8 is faster than the Alfa Romeo Stelvio:

Regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Stelvio doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The F-Pace has 5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Stelvio (21.9 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the Stelvio (255/55R19 vs. 235/60R18). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Stelvio (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. 255/45R20).

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Stelvio’s standard 60 series tires. The F-Pace SVR’s optional 265/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the Stelvio’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Stelvio. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Stelvio.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Stelvio; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-Pace’s wheelbase is 2.2 inches longer than on the Stelvio (113.1 inches vs. 110.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the F-Pace is 1.3 inches wider in the front and .2 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Stelvio.

The F-Pace handles at .88 G’s, while the Stelvio Sprint AWD pulls only .84 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.9 seconds quicker than the Stelvio Ti AWD (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 26.9 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Stelvio (8.4 vs. 8.1 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Stelvio doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The F-Pace has 3.7 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room and 5.3 inches more rear legroom than the Stelvio.

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Stelvio with its rear seat up (31.5 vs. 18.5 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Stelvio with its rear seat folded (69.1 vs. 56.5 cubic feet).

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the F-Pace uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Stelvio doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The F-Pace (except Base) offers an available heads-up display that projects speed, warning and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Stelvio doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the F-Pace the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Stelvio can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

When the F-Pace is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Stelvio’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the F-Pace (except Base) keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Stelvio doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The F-Pace R-Dynamic offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Stelvio.

The F-Pace S/R-Dynamic/SVR’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Stelvio doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The F-Pace will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the F-Pace will retain 46.74% to 47.07% of its original price after five years, while the Stelvio only retains 44.42% to 45.21%.

The Jaguar F-Pace outsold the Alfa Romeo Stelvio by 6% during 2020.
