When descending a steep, off-road slope, the XF’s standard All Surface Progress Control allows you to creep down safely. The S90 doesn’t offer All Surface Progress Control.

Both the XF and the S90 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available all wheel drive.

The XF comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The S90’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the XF for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than Volvo pays for maintenance for the S90 (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the XF’s reliability 13 points higher than the S90.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Volvo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar 19th in initial quality. With 45 more problems per 100 vehicles, Volvo is ranked 29th.

The XF has 3.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the S90 (19.5 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the XF’s brake rotors are larger than those on the S90:

The front and rear suspension of the XF uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the S90, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

For better maneuverability, the XF’s turning circle is .5 feet tighter than the S90 18” wheels’ (38.2 feet vs. 38.7 feet). The XF’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the S90 19” wheels’ (38.2 feet vs. 40 feet).

The Jaguar XF may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 to 850 pounds less than the Volvo S90.
