The Continental GT has a standard Multi-collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The AMG S-Class Coupe doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The Continental GT offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. For better traction, the Continental GT has larger standard tires than the AMG S-Class Coupe (F:265/45R20 & R:295/40R20 vs. F:255/40R20 & R:285/35R20). The Continental GT’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the AMG S-Class Coupe (F:275/35R22 & R:315/30R22 vs. F:255/40R20 & R:285/35R20).

The Continental GT’s optional 275/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the AMG S-Class Coupe’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Continental GT offers optional 22-inch wheels. The AMG S-Class Coupe’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Continental GT offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the AMG S-Class Coupe; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Continental GT offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation.
