The Continental GT’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The LC Series doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Continental GT has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The LC Series doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Continental GT helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The LC Series doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Continental GT has a standard Top View to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The LC Series only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Continental GT’s fuel efficiency. The LC Series doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Regardless of its engine, the Continental GT’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. Lexus only offers an automatic engine start/stop system on the LC Series Hybrid.

The Continental GT has 2.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the LC Series’ standard fuel tank (23.8 vs. 21.7 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Continental GT has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the LC Series Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (23.8 vs. 22.2 gallons).

The Continental GT offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The LC Series doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

All wheel drive, available in the Continental GT, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Lexus LC Series is not available with all wheel drive.

The Continental GT’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The LC Series doesn’t offer launch control.

The Continental GT SPEED has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. For better traction, the Continental GT has larger standard tires than the LC Series (F:265/45R20 & R:295/40R20 vs. F:245/45R20 & R:275/40R20). The Continental GT’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the LC Series (F:275/35R22 & R:315/30R22 vs. F:245/45R20 & R:275/40R20).

The Continental GT’s optional 275/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the LC Series’ optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Continental GT offers optional 22-inch wheels. The LC Series’ largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Continental GT offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the LC Series; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Continental GT offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The LC Series doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Continental GT uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the LC Series, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Continental GT offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lexus doesn’t offer an active suspension on the LC Series.

The Continental GT has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the Continental GT has an electronically controlled liquid-filled main engine mount. A computer-controlled electric current in the liquid changes its viscosity, allowing the mount to dampen the engine completely at all RPMs. The LC Series uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.

The design of the Bentley Continental GT amounts to more than styling. The Continental GT has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is significantly lower than the LC Series (.33). A more efficient exterior helps the Continental GT go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the Continental GT get better fuel mileage.

When the Continental GT is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The LC Series’ mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Continental GT offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the LC Series.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the Continental GT has standard rear heat vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The LC Series doesn’t offer rear vents.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Bentley Continental GT offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The LC Series doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Continental GT’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The LC Series doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
