For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Bentley Bentayga have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer pretensioners for the middle seat belts.

The Bentayga’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Bentayga and Grand Cherokee SRT have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Bentayga has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Grand Cherokee SRT’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Bentayga helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then projects the image on the windshield, near the driver’s line of sight. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Bentayga has a standard Top View to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Grand Cherokee SRT only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Bentayga and the Grand Cherokee SRT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available collision warning systems and lane departure warning systems.

The Bentayga comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Grand Cherokee SRT’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the engines in the Bentayga have an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the engine in the Grand Cherokee SRT.

The Bentayga’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 produces 67 more horsepower (542 vs. 475) and 98 lbs.-ft. more torque (568 vs. 470) than the Grand Cherokee SRT’s 6.4 V8. The Bentayga SPEED’s standard 6.0 turbo 12-cylinder produces 151 more horsepower (626 vs. 475) and 194 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 470) than the Grand Cherokee SRT’s 6.4 V8.

As tested in Motor Trend the Bentayga SPEED 6.0 turbo 12-cylinder is faster than the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT:

On the EPA test cycle the Bentayga 4.0 turbo V8 gets better fuel mileage than the Grand Cherokee SRT (15 city/24 hwy vs. 13 city/19 hwy).

In heavy traffic or at stop lights the Bentayga’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Bentley Bentayga higher (3 out of 10) than the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT (1). This means the Bentayga produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Grand Cherokee SRT every 15,000 miles.

For better stopping power the Bentayga’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Grand Cherokee SRT:

The Bentayga offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Bentayga’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Grand Cherokee SRT’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Bentayga has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Grand Cherokee SRT. The Bentayga offers optional 22-inch wheels.

The Bentayga offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Bentayga uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Grand Cherokee SRT, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Bentayga offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jeep doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Grand Cherokee SRT.

The Bentayga has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Bentayga’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Bentayga’s wheelbase is 3.2 inches longer than on the Grand Cherokee SRT (117.9 inches vs. 114.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Bentayga is .8 inches wider in the front and 1.9 inches wider in the rear than on the Grand Cherokee SRT.

The Bentayga SPEED handles at .93 G’s, while the Grand Cherokee SRT pulls only .88 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Bentayga SPEED executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.8 seconds quicker than the Grand Cherokee SRT (24.6 seconds @ .79 average G’s vs. 26.4 seconds @ .71 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the Bentayga has a 1.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Grand Cherokee SRT (9.7 vs. 8.1 inches), allowing the Bentayga to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Bentayga is 67.8 inches shorter in height than the Grand Cherokee SRT, making the Bentayga much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The design of the Bentley Bentayga amounts to more than styling. The Bentayga has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .34 Cd. That is lower than the Grand Cherokee SRT (.37). A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Bentayga get better fuel mileage.

The Bentayga offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Grand Cherokee SRT can only carry 5.

The Bentayga has .4 inches more front headroom, 1.4 inches more front legroom and 2.3 inches more rear legroom than the Grand Cherokee SRT.

Pressing a button automatically lowers or raises the Bentayga’s second and third row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Bentayga’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Bentayga has a higher standard payload capacity than the Grand Cherokee SRT (1510 vs. 1350 lbs.).

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Grand Cherokee SRT, the Bentayga has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Bentayga offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Bentayga’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The Grand Cherokee SRT’s parking brake has to be released manually.

The Bentayga’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Grand Cherokee SRT’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Bentayga to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Bentayga has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Optional air conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Bentayga’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Bentayga offers optional massaging front and second row seats, which keep the driver and middle row passengers. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Grand Cherokee SRT.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Bentley Bentayga has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) on the dashboard. The Grand Cherokee SRT doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
