Both the Quattroporte and the AMG S-Class have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and available all wheel drive.

On the EPA test cycle the Quattroporte gets better mileage than the AMG S-Class:

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Quattroporte’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the AMG S 65 Sedan’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte offers optional 21-inch wheels. The AMG S-Class’ largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Quattroporte has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the AMG S-Class; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the AMG S-Class don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Maserati Quattroporte may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 to 750 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG S-Class.

The front grille of the Quattroporte uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Quattroporte has 4.6 inches more front shoulder room and .4 inches more rear headroom than the AMG S-Class.

The Quattroporte has a larger trunk than the AMG S-Class Sedan (18.7 vs. 18 cubic feet).

The Quattroporte’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The AMG S-Class does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Quattroporte has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Quattroporte has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the AMG S-Class.
