The MC20 has standard Maserati Connect, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The 812 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the MC20 and the 812 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors and available blind spot warning systems.

The MC20 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 812’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The MC20’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the 812’s (4 vs. 3 years).

There are over 3 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the MC20’s warranty.

The battery on the MC20 is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the MC20’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The 812’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

The MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 8 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 530) than the 812’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12. The MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 28 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 510) than the 812 Competizione’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati MC20 higher (5 out of 10) than the Ferrari 812 (3). This means the MC20 produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 812 every 15,000 miles.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Maserati MC20, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 812.

The MC20’s 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 812’s standard 35 series tires.

For better maneuverability, the MC20’s turning circle is 2.4 feet tighter than the 812’s (38.7 feet vs. 41.1 feet).

The MC20 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 812 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The MC20’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The 812’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

If the windows are left open on the MC20 the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 812 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Extended Keyless Go standard on the MC20 allows you to unlock the driver’s door and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Ferrari 812’s Keyless Start doesn’t unlock the doors.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the MC20 detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The 812 doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati MC20 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The 812 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
