Compare the2022 Maserati GhibliVS 2022 Cadillac CT5-V

The Ghibli has standard Anti-Whiplash Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-Whiplash Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The CT5-V doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the Ghibli and the CT5-V have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the engines in the Ghibli have an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the 6.2 supercharged V8 in the CT5-V.

Regardless of its engine, the Ghibli’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The CT5-V Blackwing doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Ghibli has 3.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the CT5-V (21.1 vs. 17.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction and acceleration, the Ghibli has larger standard rear tires than the CT5-V (275/40R19 vs. 245/40R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Ghibli offers optional 21-inch wheels. The CT5-V’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Ghibli has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the CT5-V; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the CT5-V don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Ghibli’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The CT5-V doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ghibli’s wheelbase is 2 inches longer than on the CT5-V (118 inches vs. 116 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Ghibli is 1.4 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the CT5-V.

For better maneuverability, the Ghibli’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the CT5-V’s (38.4 feet vs. 39 feet). The Ghibli’s turning circle is 4.2 feet tighter than the CT5-V Blackwing’s (38.4 feet vs. 42.6 feet).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Ghibli a Large car, while the CT5-V is rated a Mid-size.

The Ghibli has 9 cubic feet more passenger volume than the CT5-V (108 vs. 99).

The Ghibli has 1.1 inches more front shoulder room, 2.2 inches more rear headroom and .8 inches more rear shoulder room than the CT5-V.

The front step up height for the Ghibli is 1.9 inches lower than the CT5-V (14.75” vs. 16.6”). The Ghibli’s rear step up height is 2.2 inches lower than the CT5-V’s (15.5” vs. 17.7”).

The Ghibli has a much larger trunk than the CT5-V (17.7 vs. 11.9 cubic feet).

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the Ghibli easier. The Ghibli’s trunk lift-over height is 25.8 inches, while the CT5-V’s liftover is 27.8 inches.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the Ghibli offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, completely leaving your hands free. The CT5-V doesn’t offer a power trunk, so its trunk has to be closed manually.

The Ghibli has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. A locking fuel door is only offered on the CT5-V Blackwing.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Ghibli to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The CT5-V doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Ghibli offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The CT5-V doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The CT5-V’s optional cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Ghibli’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

A power rear sunshade is optional in the Ghibli to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The CT5-V doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

The Ghibli has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats cost extra on the CT5-V. The Ghibli also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CT5-V.

The Ghibli has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the CT5-V.
