Compare the2022 Maserati GhibliVS 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Ghibli are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Ghibli has standard Anti-Whiplash Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-Whiplash Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The Ghibli Modena offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Ghibli has a standard Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Giulia Quadrifoglio only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Ghibli and the Giulia Quadrifoglio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Ghibli has a standard 850-amp battery. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 525-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

The Ghibli Trofeo’s standard 3.8 turbo V8 produces 75 more horsepower (580 vs. 505) and 95 lbs.-ft. more torque (538 vs. 443) than the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6.

On the EPA test cycle the Ghibli gets better mileage than the Giulia Quadrifoglio:

The Ghibli has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (21.1 vs. 15.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Ghibli has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Ghibli offers optional 21-inch wheels. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The Ghibli has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Giulia Quadrifoglio; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Ghibli’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ghibli’s wheelbase is 7 inches longer than on the Giulia Quadrifoglio (118 inches vs. 111 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Ghibli is 3.2 inches wider in the front and 1.8 inches wider in the rear than on the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The design of the Maserati Ghibli amounts to more than styling. The Ghibli has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is lower than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (.31) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Ghibli get better fuel mileage.

As tested by Car and Driver while under full throttle, the interior of the Ghibli Modena Q4 is quieter than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (78 vs. 81 dB).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Ghibli a Large car, while the Giulia Quadrifoglio is rated a Mid-size.

The Ghibli has 12.6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (108 vs. 95.4).

The Ghibli has .2 inches more front headroom, 1.7 inches more front shoulder room, 1.2 inches more rear headroom and 2.9 inches more rear shoulder room than the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The Ghibli has a much larger trunk than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (17.7 vs. 12 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Ghibli’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

The Ghibli’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Giulia Quadrifoglio does not have a temperature gauge.

On a hot day the Ghibli’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Giulia Quadrifoglio can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

A power rear sunshade is optional in the Ghibli to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

When the Ghibli is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Ghibli keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Ghibli has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel isn’t available on the Giulia Quadrifoglio w/Sparco Racing Seats.
