Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the E-Pace deploy with different levels of force to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The E-Pace’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Range Rover Evoque’s airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

The E-Pace has standard Whiplash Reduction System, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Whiplash Reduction System moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the E-Pace and the Range Rover Evoque have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The E-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Range Rover Evoque’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the E-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Land Rover only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Range Rover Evoque.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Land Rover vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar 19th in initial quality. With 35 more problems per 100 vehicles, Land Rover is ranked 26th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar 31st in reliability. With 58 more problems per 100 vehicles, Land Rover is ranked 33rd.

Engine

The E-Pace 300 Sport’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 50 more horsepower (296 vs. 246) and 26 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 269) than the Range Rover Evoque’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the E-Pace P250 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder is faster than the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque 2.0:

Brakes and Stopping

The E-Pace’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Range Rover Evoque are solid, not vented.

Suspension and Handling

The E-Pace SE handles at .80 G’s, while the Range Rover Evoque SE pulls only .77 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

Passenger Space

The E-Pace has .6 inches more front legroom, .3 inches more rear legroom and .4 inches more rear shoulder room than the Range Rover Evoque.

Cargo Capacity

The E-Pace has a larger cargo volume than the Range Rover Evoque with its rear seat up (22.4 vs. 21.6 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

The E-Pace’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Range Rover Evoque.
