The Lincoln Corsair has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The V60 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Corsair and the V60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front-wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all-wheel drive and around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Lincoln Corsair is safer than the Volvo V60:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Lincoln Corsair is safer than the Volvo V60:

Lincoln’s powertrain warranty covers the Corsair 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Volvo covers the V60. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the V60 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 3 times as many Lincoln dealers as there are Volvo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Corsair’s warranty.

The Corsair has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The V60 doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the car’s engine.

As tested in Car and Driver the Lincoln Corsair 2.3 turbo 4-cylinder is faster than the V60 T5 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder:

The Corsair’s maximum driving range in pure electric mode is 37 miles, 68% further than the V60 T8 Polestar’s 22 mile range.

Both the Corsair and the V60 have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stop lights and heavy traffic. All Corsairs have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. A disable switch costs extra on the V60.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Lincoln Corsair uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended with the 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder engine for maximum performance). The V60 requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The Corsair Grand Touring has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The V60 doesn’t offer a CVT.

The Corsair stops much shorter than the V60:

For better traction, the Corsair Reserve/Grand Touring’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the V60 (245/45R20 vs. 235/45R18).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Corsair Reserve/Grand Touring offers optional 20-inch wheels. The V60’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The front and rear suspension of the Corsair uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the V60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Lincoln Corsair may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 250 pounds less than the Volvo V60.

The Corsair is 6.8 inches shorter than the V60, making the Corsair easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Corsair uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The V60 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Corsair uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The V60 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Corsair has 8.5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the V60 (102.5 vs. 94).

The Corsair has 1.1 inches more front headroom, .9 inches more front legroom, .3 inches more front hip room, 1 inch more front shoulder room, .7 inches more rear headroom, 3.4 inches more rear legroom and 1.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the V60.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Corsair’s rear seats recline. The V60’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Corsair has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the V60 with its rear seat up (27.6 vs. 23.2 cubic feet). The Corsair has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the V60 with its rear seat folded (57.6 vs. 50.9 cubic feet).

Pressing a button automatically lowers the Corsair’s optional rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The V60 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The Corsair’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the V60’s (3000 vs. 2000 pounds).

The Corsair’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The V60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Corsair’s exterior PIN entry system. The V60 doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its Volvo On Call can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Corsair has standard extendable sun visors. The V60 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Lincoln Corsair Reserve/Grand Touring offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The V60 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Corsair’s optional Active Park Assist 2.0 can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The V60’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

Insurance will cost less for the Corsair owner. The Car Book by Jack Gillis rates the Corsair with a number “8” insurance rate while the V60 is rated higher at a number “10” rate.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Corsair is less expensive to operate than the V60 because typical repairs cost much less on the Corsair than the V60, including $43 less for a starter, $14 less for fuel injection and $273 less for a fuel pump.

The Lincoln Corsair outsold the Volvo 60 Series by 69% during the 2021 model year.
