A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages children to buckle up. The Genesis GV80 doesn’t offer comfort guides on its middle seat belts.

Compared to metal, the Enclave’s plastic fuel tank can withstand harder, more intrusive impacts without leaking; this decreases the possibility of fire. The Genesis GV80 has a metal gas tank.

Both the Enclave and the GV80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Buick Enclave is safer than the Genesis GV80:

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Enclave has a standard 170-amp alternator. The GV80’s 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Enclave’s reliability 20 points higher than the GV80.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick second in reliability, above the industry average. With 8 more problems per 100 vehicles, Genesis is ranked fourth.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Buick fourth in overall reliability. Genesis is ranked fifth.

The Enclave’s 3.6 DOHC V6 produces 10 more horsepower (310 vs. 300) than the GV80’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the Enclave AWD gets better fuel mileage than the GV80 3.5 turbo V6 (17 city/25 hwy vs. 18 city/23 hwy).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Buick Enclave uses regular unleaded gasoline. The GV80 requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The Enclave has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GV80 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Buick Enclave higher (6 out of 10) than the Genesis GV80 (5). This means the Enclave produces up to 6.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the GV80 every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Buick Enclave, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the GV80.

The Buick Enclave’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Genesis GV80 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Enclave has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The GV80 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Enclave’s wheelbase is 4.6 inches longer than on the GV80 (120.9 inches vs. 116.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Enclave is 1.4 inches wider in the front and .5 inches wider in the rear than on the GV80.

The Enclave Avenir AWD handles at .83 G’s, while the GV80 ADVANCED AWD pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The front grille of the Enclave uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The GV80 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Enclave has 17.3 cubic feet more passenger volume than the GV80 (157.3 vs. 140).

The Enclave has 2.4 inches more front headroom, 2 inches more front shoulder room, 1.5 inches more rear headroom, 3.4 inches more rear shoulder room, 3.3 inches more third row headroom, 3.2 inches more third row legroom and 4.1 inches more third row shoulder room than the GV80.

The Enclave’s cargo area provides more volume than the GV80.

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Enclave easier. The Enclave’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 30.5 inches, while the GV80’s liftover is 31.7 inches.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Buick service is better than Genesis. J.D. Power ranks Buick fifth in service department satisfaction. With a 36% lower rating, Genesis is ranked 23rd.

If the windows are left open on the Enclave the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the GV80 can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Enclave’s available exterior PIN entry system. The GV80 doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system, and its Connected Care can’t unlock the doors if the vehicle doesn’t have cell phone reception or the driver can’t contact the service.

Consumer Reports rated the Enclave’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the GV80’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

The Enclave has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the GV80.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Buick Enclave has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the GV80.

Insurance will cost less for the Enclave owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Enclave will cost $2430 to $6560 less than the GV80 over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Buick Enclave will be $8362 to $13596 less than for the Genesis GV80.

The Buick Enclave outsold the Genesis GV80 by almost three to one during the 2021 model year.
