In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the GV70 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The A6 Allroad’s airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GV70 Advanced/Sport has standard Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The GV70 has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the A6 Allroad’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the GV70 has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the A6 Allroad.

The GV70’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GV70 and the A6 Allroad have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

The GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The A6 Allroad’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV70 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Audi covers the A6 Allroad. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the A6 Allroad ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the A6 Allroad.

There are over 11 percent more Genesis dealers than there are Audi dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the GV70’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis 7th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 92 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 32nd, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis 8th in reliability, above the industry average. With 25 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 20th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Audi vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 9 places higher in reliability than Audi.

The GV70’s optional 3.5 turbo V6 produces 40 more horsepower (375 vs. 335) and 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (391 vs. 369) than the A6 Allroad’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the GV70 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder with its standard engine gets better fuel mileage than the A6 Allroad (22 city/28 hwy vs. 21 city/28 hwy).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Genesis GV70 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The A6 Allroad requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Genesis GV70, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the A6 Allroad.

For better traction, the GV70 Sport Prestige’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the A6 Allroad (255/40R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The GV70 Sport Prestige’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the A6 Allroad’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GV70 Sport Prestige offers optional 21-inch wheels. The A6 Allroad’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the GV70 is 0 inches wider in the front and 2.1 inches wider in the rear than the track on the A6 Allroad.

For greater off-road capability the GV70 has a 1.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the A6 Allroad Premium Plus (7.3 vs. 6.1 inches), allowing the GV70 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Genesis GV70 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 300 pounds less than the Audi A6 Allroad.

The GV70 is 9.3 inches shorter than the A6 Allroad, making the GV70 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The GV70 has 1.3 inches more front headroom, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room and .4 inches more rear shoulder room than the A6 Allroad.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Genesis service is better than Audi. J.D. Power ranks Genesis 9th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 2% lower rating, Audi is ranked 12th.

The GV70’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The A6 Allroad’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the GV70 has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the A6 Allroad only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The GV70 Advanced/Sport/3.5T has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV70 Advanced/Sport Prestige’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The A6 Allroad’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

Motor Trend selected the GV70 as their 2022 Sport Utility of the Year. The A6 Allroad has never been chosen.
