Compare the2022 Dodge Charger SRTVS 2022 Porsche Panamera

The Charger SRT has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Panamera’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Charger SRT’s standard rear cross-path warning system uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Panamera doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.

Both the Charger SRT and the Panamera have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Dodge’s powertrain warranty covers the Charger SRT 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Panamera. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Panamera ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 12 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger SRT’s warranty.

The Dodge Charger SRT’s engines use a cast iron block for durability, while the Panamera’s engines use an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is ranked 15th, below the industry average.

The Charger SRT has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Panamera doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better stopping power the Charger SRT’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Panamera:

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The Charger SRT has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Panamera doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The Charger SRT stops shorter than the Panamera:

For better traction, the Charger SRT has larger tires than the Panamera (305/35R20 vs. 265/45R19). The Charger SRT’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Panamera (305/35R20 vs. 275/35R21).

The Charger SRT’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Panamera’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Charger SRT has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Panamera.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Charger SRT’s wheelbase is 4.3 inches longer than on the Panamera (120.4 inches vs. 116.1 inches).

The Charger SRT has 8.7 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Panamera (104.7 vs. 96).

The Charger SRT has .6 inches more front headroom, 1.4 inches more front shoulder room, 4.5 inches more rear legroom and 3.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Panamera.

The Charger SRT has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Panamera doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Charger SRT’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Panamera.

On a hot day the Charger SRT’s driver can lower the front windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Panamera can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Charger SRT to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Panamera doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Charger SRT has standard extendable sun visors. The Panamera doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Charger SRT has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Panamera.

The Dodge Charger outsold the Porsche Panamera by almost 24 to one during the 2021 model year.
