The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid produces 112 more horsepower (362 vs. 250) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 258) than the V90 T5’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid produces 46 more horsepower (362 vs. 316) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 295) than the V90 T6’s standard 2.0 turbo/supercharged 4-cylinder.

Both the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon and the V90 have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stop lights and heavy traffic. All E-Class All-Terrain Wagons have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. A disable switch costs extra on the V90.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon has 5.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the V90 (21.1 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain Wagon, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the V90.

For better stopping power the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s brake rotors are larger than those on the V90:

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The V90 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The V90’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The front and rear suspension of the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the V90, which uses coil springs in front and transverse leafs springs in the rear. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The V90 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The V90 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (52% to 48%) than the V90’s (53.7% to 46.3%). This gives the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon more stable handling and braking.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon a Mid-Size Station Wagon car, while the V90 is rated a Small Station Wagon.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon has standard seating for 7 passengers; the V90 can only carry 5.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The V90 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

Heated windshield washer fluid is standard on the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The V90 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid. Its optional heated washer nozzles will defrost the washer fluid but not the windshield.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the E-Class All-Terrain Wagon has standard extendable sun visors. The V90 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The V90 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The E-Class All-Terrain Wagon’s optional Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The V90’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

The Mercedes E-Class comes in coupe, convertible, sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Volvo V90 isn’t available as a coupe, convertible or sedan.
