Compare the2022 Mercedes AMG GLBVS 2022 Lincoln Corsair

The AMG GLB’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Corsair doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the AMG GLB. But it costs extra on the Corsair.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the AMG GLB’s standard Downhill Speed Regulation allows you to creep down safely. The Corsair doesn’t offer Downhill Speed Regulation.

Both the AMG GLB and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Mercedes vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Mercedes 6 places higher in reliability than Lincoln.

The AMG GLB’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 52 more horsepower (302 vs. 250) and 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 280) than the Corsair’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The AMG GLB’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 36 more horsepower (302 vs. 266) than the Corsair Grand Touring’s standard 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid. The AMG GLB’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 7 more horsepower (302 vs. 295) than the Corsair’s optional 2.3 turbo 4-cylinder.

The AMG GLB has 4.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair Grand Touring Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (15.9 vs. 11.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The AMG GLB offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Corsair doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The AMG GLB’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Corsair doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the AMG GLB’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Corsair:

The AMG GLB’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Corsair are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the AMG GLB has larger standard tires than the Corsair (235/50R19 vs. 225/60R18). The AMG GLB’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Corsair (255/40R20 vs. 245/45R20).

The AMG GLB’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Corsair Standard’s standard 60 series tires. The AMG GLB’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Corsair Reserve/Grand Touring’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the AMG GLB has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Corsair Standard. The AMG GLB’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Corsair Reserve/Grand Touring.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the AMG GLB can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Corsair doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The AMG GLB’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Corsair doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the AMG GLB’s wheelbase is 4.7 inches longer than on the Corsair (111.4 inches vs. 106.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the AMG GLB is 1.1 inches wider in the front than on the Corsair.

The AMG GLB offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Corsair can only carry 5.

The AMG GLB has 1.2 inches more front headroom and .6 inches more rear headroom than the Corsair.

The AMG GLB’s cargo area provides more volume than the Corsair.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Corsair, the AMG GLB has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, suspension setting, power steering assist, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The AMG GLB has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The Corsair doesn’t offer a locking fuel/charge port door.

The AMG GLB’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corsair’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

When the AMG GLB is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Corsair’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The AMG GLB has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Corsair doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Mercedes GLB outsold the Lincoln Corsair by 9% during the 2021 model year.
