The Cayenne Coupe has a standard Multi-collision Brake System, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Cayenne Coupe helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

For better protection of the passenger compartment, the Cayenne Coupe uses safety cell construction with a three-dimensional high-strength frame that surrounds the passenger compartment. It provides extra impact protection and a sturdy mounting location for door hardware and side impact beams. The LX 570 uses a body-on-frame design, which has no frame members above the floor of the vehicle.

Both the Cayenne Coupe and the LX 570 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Cayenne Coupe’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the LX 570’s (12 vs. 6 years).

Engine

The Cayenne S Coupe’s standard 2.9 turbo V6 produces 51 more horsepower (434 vs. 383) and 2 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 403) than the LX 570’s 5.7 DOHC V8. The Cayenne GTS Coupe’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 produces 70 more horsepower (453 vs. 383) and 54 lbs.-ft. more torque (457 vs. 403) than the LX 570’s 5.7 DOHC V8. The Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 72 more horsepower (455 vs. 383) and 113 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 403) than the LX 570’s 5.7 DOHC V8. The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 287 more horsepower (670 vs. 383) and 260 lbs.-ft. more torque (663 vs. 403) than the LX 570’s 5.7 DOHC V8.

The Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe can drive on battery power alone for up to 17 miles. The LX 570 must run its internal combustion engine to move.

Regenerative brakes improve the Cayenne Coupe’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stop lights the Cayenne Coupe’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The LX 570 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

Transmission

The Cayenne Coupe’s optional launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The LX 570 doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Cayenne Coupe’s brake rotors are larger than those on the LX 570:

The Cayenne Coupe offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The LX 570 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Cayenne Coupe Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The LX 570 doesn’t offer air brakes.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Cayenne Coupe has larger standard rear tires than the LX 570 (305/40R20 vs. 275/50R21). The Cayenne Coupe’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the LX 570 (315/35R21 vs. 285/50R20).

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard 275/45R20 front and 305/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the LX 570’s standard 50 series tires. The Cayenne Coupe’s optional 285/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the LX 570’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Cayenne Coupe offers optional 22-inch wheels. The LX 570’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

Suspension and Handling

For superior ride and handling, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Lexus LX 570 has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Cayenne Coupe has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The LX 570’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The Cayenne Coupe offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The LX 570 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The Cayenne Coupe offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lexus doesn’t offer an active suspension on the LX 570.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Cayenne Coupe’s wheelbase is 1.8 inches longer than on the LX 570 (114 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Cayenne Coupe is 1.3 inches wider in the front and 1.4 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the LX 570.

The Cayenne Turbo Coupe handles at .98 G’s, while the LX 570 pulls only .73 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Cayenne Turbo Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 4.2 seconds quicker than the LX 570 (24.1 seconds @ .82 average G’s vs. 28.3 seconds @ .59 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Cayenne Coupe w/Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 3.6 feet tighter than the LX 570’s (35.1 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Cayenne Coupe Air Suspension has a greater minimum ground clearance than the LX 570 (9.6 vs. 8.9 inches), allowing the Cayenne Coupe to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 1150 pounds less than the Lexus LX 570.

The Cayenne Coupe is 5.8 inches shorter than the LX 570, making the Cayenne Coupe easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Cayenne Coupe is 10.8 inches shorter in height than the LX 570, making the Cayenne Coupe much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

Unibody construction lowers the Cayenne Coupe’s center of gravity significantly without reducing ground clearance. This contributes to better on the road handling and better off-road performance and stability. In addition, unibody construction makes the chassis stiffer, improving handling and reducing squeaks and rattles. The LX 570 uses body-on-frame design instead.

The front grille of the Cayenne Coupe uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The LX 570 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Cargo Capacity

The Cayenne Coupe has a much larger cargo volume than the LX 570 with its rear seat up (22 vs. 16.3 cubic feet).

The Cayenne Coupe’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The LX 570’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Cayenne Coupe’s available liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its tailgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Payload and Towing

The Cayenne Coupe’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the LX 570’s (7700 vs. 7000 pounds).

The Cayenne Coupe has a much higher maximum payload capacity than the LX 570 (1499 vs. 1280 lbs.).

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Lexus. J.D. Power ranks Porsche first in service department satisfaction. With a 4% lower rating, Lexus is ranked second.

Ergonomics

The power windows standard on both the Cayenne Coupe and the LX 570 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Cayenne Coupe is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The LX 570 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Cayenne Coupe offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The LX 570 doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Cayenne Coupe to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The LX 570 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Cayenne Coupe’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The LX 570’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The Cayenne Coupe offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the LX 570.

The Cayenne Coupe’s optional Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The LX 570 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Porsche Cayenne outsold the Lexus LX 570 by almost five to one during the 2021 model year.
