Compare the2022 Porsche CayenneVS 2021 Jaguar F-Pace

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Cayenne are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Porsche Cayenne has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Cayenne has a standard Multi-collision Brake System, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Cayenne helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Cayenne and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Cayenne’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Pace’s (12 vs. 6 years).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Cayenne’s reliability 28 points higher than the F-Pace.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche 15th in initial quality. With 2 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 19th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche second in reliability, above the industry average. With 100 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The Cayenne E-Hybrid can drive on battery power alone for up to 17 miles. The F-Pace must run its internal combustion engine to move.

The Cayenne’s standard fuel tank has 2 gallons more fuel capacity than the F-Pace (23.7 vs. 21.7 gallons).

The Cayenne’s optional launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The F-Pace doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Cayenne’s brake rotors are larger than those on the F-Pace:

The Cayenne offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The F-Pace doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Cayenne Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The F-Pace doesn’t offer air brakes.

For better traction, the Cayenne’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the F-Pace (F:285/40R21 & R:315/35R21 vs. F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21).

The Cayenne’s standard 275/50R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Pace’s standard 55 series tires. The Cayenne’s optional 285/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the F-Pace SVR’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

The Cayenne offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The F-Pace doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The Cayenne offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jaguar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the F-Pace.

The Cayenne has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Cayenne’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Cayenne is 1.5 inches wider in the front and .6 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the F-Pace.

The Cayenne handles at .96 G’s, while the F-Pace pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Cayenne Turbo executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.9 seconds quicker than the F-Pace (23.9 seconds @ .83 average G’s vs. 26.8 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Cayenne w/Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the F-Pace’s (35.1 feet vs. 39.1 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Cayenne Air Suspension has a 1.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the F-Pace (9.6 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the Cayenne to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The front grille of the Cayenne uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The F-Pace doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Cayenne has 1.2 inches more front headroom, .8 inches more front legroom, 1.4 inches more front shoulder room, 1.5 inches more rear headroom, 3.1 inches more rear legroom and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the F-Pace.

The front step up height for the Cayenne is 2.4 inches lower than the F-Pace (16.75” vs. 19.2”). The Cayenne’s rear step up height is 3.8 inches lower than the F-Pace’s (16” vs. 19.8”).

The Cayenne’s cargo area is larger than the F-Pace’s in almost every dimension:

The Cayenne’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the F-Pace’s (7700 vs. 5290 pounds).

The Cayenne has a higher maximum payload capacity than the F-Pace (1657 vs. 1510 lbs.).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Porsche first in service department satisfaction. With a 46% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 18th.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the F-Pace (except Base), the Cayenne offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Cayenne’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The F-Pace does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Cayenne has a standard locking fuel and charge port door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Cayenne offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The F-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Cayenne to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Cayenne’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The F-Pace doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Cayenne’s optional Active Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The F-Pace S/R-Dynamic/SVR’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.

Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its November 2019 issue and they ranked the Porsche Cayenne Turbo two places higher than the Jaguar F-Pace SVR.

The Porsche Cayenne outsold the Jaguar F-Pace by over two to one during the 2021 model year.
