For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the Outlander PHEV and the I-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Mitsubishi’s powertrain warranty covers the Outlander PHEV 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the I-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the I-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Outlander PHEV’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the I-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 80 percent more Mitsubishi dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Outlander PHEV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi third in initial quality, above the industry average. With 21 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 19th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi 13th in reliability, above the industry average. With 70 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The Outlander PHEV’s maximum EPA estimated driving range on a full tank of fuel and a full charge is 293.8 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The I-Pace’s range is only 222 miles, after which the minimum recharge time is 15 minutes for only a 28% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas. A full recharge at a conventional charging station can take up to 12 hours and 54 minutes.

For better maneuverability, the Outlander PHEV’s turning circle is 4.9 feet tighter than the I-Pace’s (35.6 feet vs. 40.5 feet).

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 pounds less than the Jaguar I-Pace.

The Outlander PHEV has .7 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more rear headroom, 2.9 inches more rear legroom and 1.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the I-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Outlander PHEV’s rear seats recline. The I-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Outlander PHEV has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the I-Pace with its rear seat up (30.4 vs. 25.3 cubic feet). The Outlander PHEV has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the I-Pace with its rear seat folded (66.6 vs. 53.6 cubic feet).

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Outlander PHEV has a standard rear wiper. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Outlander PHEV GT has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
