J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are better in initial quality than Toyota vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi third in initial quality, above the industry average. With 13 more problems per 100 vehicles, Toyota is ranked 13th.

For better maneuverability, the Mirage Hatchback’s turning circle is 7.2 feet tighter than the Corolla Hatchback’s (30.2 feet vs. 37.4 feet). The Mirage G4’s turning circle is 5.9 feet tighter than the Corolla Hatchback’s (31.5 feet vs. 37.4 feet).

The Mitsubishi Mirage may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 850 to 950 pounds less than the Toyota Corolla Hatchback.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Mirage is less expensive to operate than the Corolla Hatchback because typical repairs cost much less on the Mirage than the Corolla Hatchback, including $30 less for fuel injection, $313 less for a fuel pump, $107 less for front struts and $187 less for a timing belt/chain.
