The Range Rover Sport’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The SQ7 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the SQ7 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Land Rover 26th in initial quality. With 40 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 32nd.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 18 more horsepower (518 vs. 500) than the SQ7’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid. The Range Rover Sport SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 75 more horsepower (575 vs. 500) than the SQ7’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover Sport gets better mileage than the SQ7:

The Range Rover Sport has 5 gallons more fuel capacity than the SQ7 (27.5 vs. 22.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Sport offers optional 22-inch wheels. The SQ7’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Range Rover Sport has a standard full size spare (not available on 7-Passenger/P400e) so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the SQ7; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Sport is 1.1 inches wider in the front and .9 inches wider in the rear than on the SQ7.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 400 pounds less than the Audi SQ7.

The Range Rover Sport is 7.5 inches shorter than the SQ7, making the Range Rover Sport easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Range Rover Sport has 1.2 inches more front shoulder room, .3 inches more rear headroom and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the SQ7.

The Range Rover Sport has a standard third row seat which folds flat into the floor. This completely clears a very large cargo area quickly. The SQ7 doesn’t offer seats that fold into the floor.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover Sport uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The SQ7 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the SQ7 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

Optional air conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Range Rover Sport’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The SQ7 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The SQ7 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The SQ7 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
