Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the Range Rover Sport. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the e-tron.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The e-tron doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the e-tron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Land Rover 26th in initial quality. With 40 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 32nd.

The Range Rover Sport P360’s maximum EPA estimated driving range on a full tank of fuel is 660 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The e-tron’s range is only 222 miles, after which the minimum recharge time is 30 minutes for only a 80% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas. A full recharge at a conventional charging station can take up to 10 hours and 30 minutes.

The Range Rover Sport stops much shorter than the e-tron:

For better traction, the Range Rover Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the e-tron (275/40R22 vs. 265/45R21).

The Range Rover Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the e-tron’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Sport offers optional 22-inch wheels. The e-tron’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Range Rover Sport has a standard full size spare (not available on 7-Passenger/P400e) so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the e-tron; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Range Rover Sport V8 has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The e-tron doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Sport is 1.3 inches wider in the front and .9 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the e-tron.

The Range Rover Sport SVR handles at .87 G’s, while the e-tron Chronos Edition pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Range Rover Sport SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.4 seconds quicker than the e-tron Chronos Edition (25.2 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 26.6 seconds @ .71 average G’s).

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 650 to 900 pounds less than the Audi e-tron.

The Range Rover Sport offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the e-tron can only carry 5.

The Range Rover Sport has 1.4 inches more front headroom, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, .5 inches more rear headroom and 2.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the e-tron.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Range Rover Sport’s middle row seats recline. The e-tron’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Range Rover Sport’s cargo area provides more volume than the e-tron.

The Range Rover Sport’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the e-tron’s (7716 vs. 4000 pounds).

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover Sport uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The e-tron doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the e-tron only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

Consumer Reports rated the Range Rover Sport’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the e-tron’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

Optional air conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Range Rover Sport’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The e-tron doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The e-tron doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The e-tron doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Range Rover Sport was selected by Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine as their 2014 4x4 of the Year. The e-tron has never been chosen.
