The Range Rover Evoque has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Atlas Cross Sport’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Atlas Cross Sport doesn’t offer knee airbags.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover Evoque. But it costs extra on the Atlas Cross Sport.

The Range Rover Evoque’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Atlas Cross Sport doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The Range Rover Evoque’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Atlas Cross Sport’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Volkswagen vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Land Rover 26th in initial quality. With 13 more problems per 100 vehicles, Volkswagen is ranked 30th.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 11 more horsepower (246 vs. 235) and 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (269 vs. 258) than the Atlas Cross Sport’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The Range Rover Evoque’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 3 lbs.-ft. more torque (269 vs. 266) than the Atlas Cross Sport’s optional 3.6 DOHC V6. The Range Rover Evoque R-Dynamic HST’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 20 more horsepower (296 vs. 276) and 29 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 266) than the Atlas Cross Sport’s optional 3.6 DOHC V6.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Evoque’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Atlas Cross Sport doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque higher (7 out of 10) than the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport (3 to 5). The design of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque amounts to more than styling. The Range Rover Evoque has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is lower than the Atlas Cross Sport (.34 to .35) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Range Rover Evoque get better fuel mileage.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Atlas Cross Sport’s (3968 vs. 2000 pounds).

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover Evoque uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Atlas Cross Sport doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Evoque has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Atlas Cross Sport only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.
