Compare the2022 Land Rover Range RoverVS 2021 Maserati Levante

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Land Rover Range Rover have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Maserati Levante doesn’t offer pretensioners for the rear seat belts.

Both the Range Rover and Levante have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Levante’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Range Rover’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Levante.

The Range Rover’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Levante doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover and the Levante have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the Levante’s (6/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

There are over 62 percent more Land Rover dealers than there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Range Rover’s warranty.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Levante doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Range Rover has 6.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Levante (27.5 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the Range Rover’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Levante (275/45R21 vs. 265/50R19).

The Range Rover offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Levante; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The Range Rover V8 has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Levante doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover is 2.4 inches wider in the front than the average track on the Levante.

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover has a 2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Levante (11.7 vs. 9.7 inches), allowing the Range Rover to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Range Rover SVAutobiography is quieter than the Levante S:

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover SVAutobiography Long Wheelbase when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The Levante doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

The Range Rover has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Levante with its rear seat up (34.5 vs. 20.5 cubic feet). The Range Rover has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Levante with its rear seat folded (70.9 vs. 57.3 cubic feet).

The Range Rover SVAutobiography’s optional sliding cargo floor makes loading and unloading cargo easier and safer. The Levante doesn’t offer a sliding load floor.

The Range Rover’s cargo area is larger than the Levante’s in every dimension:

Pressing a switch automatically lowers or raises the Range Rover’s rear seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The Levante doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The Range Rover’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Levante’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

The Range Rover’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Levante’s (7716 vs. 5952 pounds).

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Levante, the Range Rover offers an optional passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Levante doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Range Rover Westminster/Autobiography/SVA has standard front air conditioned seats and the Range Rover offers them optionally in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Levante doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Range Rover (except Base) offers optional massaging front and rear seats (rear heaters not available on Base/Westminster). Massaging seats aren’t available in the Levante.

The Range Rover offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Levante doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Levante doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

The Land Rover Range Rover outsold the Maserati Levante by over four to one during the 2021 model year.
