The Range Rover’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The SQ8 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover and the SQ8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Range Rover has a standard 1600-amp battery. The SQ8’s 380-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

The battery on the Range Rover is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the Range Rover’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The SQ8’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Land Rover 26th in initial quality. With 40 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 32nd.

The Range Rover P525’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 18 more horsepower (518 vs. 500) than the SQ8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid. The Range Rover SVAutobiography’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 57 more horsepower (557 vs. 500) than the SQ8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid.

The Range Rover has 5 gallons more fuel capacity than the SQ8 (27.5 vs. 22.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Range Rover offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the SQ8; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The Range Rover’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The SQ8 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover’s turning circle is 3.1 feet tighter than the SQ8’s (40.5 feet vs. 43.6 feet). The Range Rover LWB’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the SQ8’s (42.8 feet vs. 43.6 feet).

The Land Rover Range Rover may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 350 pounds less than the Audi SQ8.

The front grille of the Range Rover Diesel uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The SQ8 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Flexibility is maximized at the game, campground or a drive-in theatre in the Range Rover SVAutobiography Long Wheelbase when its optional tailgating rear seats are deployed, allowing people to sit facing out of the tailgate. (Do not use while vehicle is in motion.) The SQ8 doesn’t offer tailgating seats.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover has a standard rear speed-sensitive intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the SQ8 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Range Rover Westminster/Autobiography/SVA has standard front air conditioned seats and the Range Rover offers them optionally in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The SQ8 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

Both the Range Rover and the SQ8 offer available massaging front seats. The Range Rover also offers optional massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the SQ8.

The Range Rover offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The SQ8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The SQ8 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
